ACTIVE TECTONICS AND PALEOSEISMOLOGY

My main research field is on paleoseismology and structural geology.

I started to work on these issues during my Ph.D. analyzing the seismic hazard of the Po Plain foredeep, where blind thrusting plays his major role.

Relying on sesimic reflection data interpretation, tectonic geomorphology, remote sensing, field survey and trenching, in the last years, our research group considerably contributed in reviewing the understanding of the seismic potential of this region.

RECENT ENVIRONMENTAL EVOLUTION

As a matter of fact paleoseismological studies heavily rely on Quaternary geology. As a consequence part of my research focused also on the study of recent landscape and environmental evolution. I have the fortune to work with a staff composed by experts in many different research fields (palynology, anthracology, environmental chemistry etc.) whose collaboration resulted in interesting works about this issue.
